Baby food


This post is dedicated to my son,who has made me so patience and complete.i believe in feeding my baby wholesome food made everyday.(including fruits,vegs,rice and porteins)After browsing load of websites on baby food,i realized there was no blog/website on indian baby food recipe therefore i decided. i need to write all the food recipes i make for my baby.
Since my son is 8 months now i am feeding him 3 full meals a day with 4 to 6 ounces of breastmilk/formula with each feeding.
These recipes are for babies more than 6 months.
What you need to make baby food.
Steam/pressure cooker
Hand blender/baby food processor

Recipe1:Nachini powder(Ragi porridge)

Rice-1 cup
Green moong dal-1 cup
Wheat -1 cup
Ragi-1 cup
Almonds-20
Jeera-4 tsps


Soak all the ingredient separately excluding almond and jeera over night.
Dry the ingredients on a cloth till dry.
Roast each of the ingredient on low flame(be careflul not to burn it)(include the jeera and almonds)
Powder each separately in a mixer/processor.
Sieve the powder.(this is done to make sure all the grains are powdered)
Mix the powders together and store in a airtight container.
this powder can be stored upto 4 months.

when feeding the baby.boil half a cup water,mix 1 to 2 teaspoon of the nachini powder in  another  half cup of water.when the water starts to boil add the nachini mixture.cook this for 10 mins or till its done. optional  Add Ghee to the porridge before feeding.


Khichdi
Ingredients:
Rice-2 tsps
Moong dal -1 tsps
Ghee-1 tsp
Turmeric-a pinch
Salt- a pinch
Jeera powder


Soak rice and moong dal in water for about an hours.wash the soaked rice/dal till the water runs clear.
Pressure cook the rice and dal,let it cool
Mash the rice and dal using a hand blender/baby proccessor.(or you can pressure cook it for 6 whistles)
now add the jeera powder and turmeric and cook it for 3 mins.
Add a pinch of salt and ghee.
You can add vegetable while cooking the dal and rice.(i add peas and carrots )
Kichdi is very nutritional and has proteins, carbs and fat(ghee)


Increase the amount of rice as the baby grows and according to the babies appetite.
